We love houses old and new, and are experts in complete builds, renovations, extensions, conversions, and timber-frames. We’ll handle building regulations, project management, and any necessary sub-contracting.
If you’ve got it, we’ll fit it; from kitchens, doors, fascias and skirting boards to floors, roof trusses and timber cladding.

With an endless supply of enthusiasm for every new project, Ian is the first point of contact for our customers. His passion for design led to the formation of his own carpentry business in 1992, which ultimately became Blake Construction (Cornwall) Ltd. in 2004.
Michelle is the administrative backbone of our company, taking care of all the essential paperwork and liaising with suppliers. When she’s not chasing around after us, she has two children and a cocker spaniel to contend with.
Ryan is a trained joiner and general all-rounder, who came to the company around five years ago. He’s a keen footballer and regularly meets with his friends to play.
A 6’5” rugby player, Sean has been with the company since starting out as an apprentice eight years ago. A versatile member of the team, working in many areas, his skill and pleasant manner mean he’s always popular with our clients.
In January 2014, we began work on a terrace of new starter homes in St Columb Road. Working in collaboration with the landowner, we began with just an empty site and a set of approved plans, which we were able to modify with the project architect. All houses were sold off plan for the full asking price.
We constructed unique timber frames for the houses and employed sub-contractors for the groundwork, plastering, and roofing; project-managed by Ian. As this was a complete start-to-finish undertaking, we were involved from the planning stage to the eventual handing over of keys.
The build process took just eight months, and began during the wettest winter for decades. Despite this, quality was consistently high and when new owners moved into the properties in September 2014, they were completely ready for occupancy, with all flooring laid and outside areas turfed.
We carried out the construction of a new pavilion for Grampound Road Cricket Club in 2013/14. The original plans drawn up by architects had been too costly for the club to execute, so we advised on simplifying the design to create an equally attractive but more economical timber frame structure with cedar cladding.
Our team worked with the club, taking over once the groundworks had been completed. We carried out work with the club’s mechanical and electrical contractors to create the new pavilion.
The structure was completed ready for the 2014 cricket season. It was formally opened by Sir Tim Rice in August 2014.
For this customer, we created a bespoke fitted kitchen, incorporating worktops they had supplied.
The process began with an ideas-generation meeting, in which we talked about the style of bespoke kitchens they liked. Together we planned their ideal layout and chose which elements of design, such as door mouldings and handles, best suited their style.
Our team created the carcasses and doors in our workshop, delivering them to the site for final fitting. The timber used was ideal for kitchen units, being unaffected by changes in humidity. We worked closely with subcontractors such as an electrician, plumber and painter, to create a perfect finish.
In addition to the main components of the kitchen, we also made a bespoke kitchen table, bench seating, stools and TV cabinet.
Many thanks to you and your team for a very professional job replacing our fascia boards and guttering. The craftsmanship, attention to detail and good old fashioned customer service was first class. I have no problem recommending you to other potential customers. Well done.
We are more than delighted with the work carried out on the village hall. We all agreed that you all worked hard, sometimes under difficult times. Thank you so much; we have a village hall to be proud of and we are grateful to Blake Construction for the great work that you all carried out.
